Cool Culture’s Bring the Cool Family Festival Shines at Museum Mile Festival
New York, NY – June 18, 2024 – Cool Culture, in collaboration with the Museum of the City of New York, proudly hosted the Bring the Cool Family Festival as part of the iconic Museum Mile Festival. This vibrant event celebrated the power of art, culture, and community, bringing together families for an evening of creativity and inspiration.
Families from across New York City gathered to participate in interactive art-making activities, including button-making, poster art, mural design, and more. These hands-on experiences encouraged attendees to see themselves as artists, storytellers, and curators, reinforcing the belief that art is a powerful tool for self-expression and social change.
A key highlight of the festival was the Shirley Chisholm at 100 Exhibit, which opened on June 14, 2024, at the Museum of the City of New York. Over 2,000 visitors explored the life and impact of Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to Congress, whose work continues to influence U.S. politics and social movements.
To honor her legacy, festival attendees participated in an interactive Rights and Responsibilities Paper Chain activity, writing down fundamental rights and responsibilities that help shape a more just society. Through these reflections, participants recognized the importance of using their voices for positive change.
